Countries of Europe and the former Soviet Union
Caritas CR operates in Europe and some countries of the former Soviet Union, namely:
- Georgia
- Moldova
- Serbia
- the North Caucasus, in Chechnya – Russian Federation
Other Czech Caritas within provides international aid:
- Archdiocesan Caritas Olomouc and Diocesan Caritas Litoměřice operate in the Slovakia.
- Archdiocesan Caritas Prague and the Diocesan Caritas České Budějovice are active in Belarus.
- Archdiocesan of Olomouc, Diocesan Caritas Brno and Diocesan Caritas Ostrava-Opava within its Center for Humanitarian Aid have their charity programs in Ukraine.
- Diocesan Caritas České Budějovice help in Bulgaria and Romania.
Day visit to a pre-school education centre
In March 2012 Tomáš Tetiva, project manager of Caritas CR, went to Chechnya for a monitoring trip. Among other things, he visited the center of pre-school education in Assinovskaja village which was built by Caritas CR, and is operated by a partner organization called Initiative and co-financed by Caritas Switzerland. Tom has shared with us his experiences of the day that he spent among children and their teachers.
With marmalades to reconciliation
An armed conflict in 2008 separated South Ossetia from the rest of Georgia. The conflict also divided the people living on both sides of the border, not just geographically. Caritas Czech Republic and local organization ABCO Georgia help to restore a sense of mutual confidence between the Georgian and Ossetian population in the border region by establishing a joint venture.
Moldova is my Africa
Transnistria or Moldavian Transnistrian Republic declared independence from Moldova in 1990. However, internationally it is still seen as a part of Moldova. When entering the country from the Moldovan side, visitors go through triple security, which is somewhat easy on the Moldova side. Visitors show their passports to peacekeeping forces, who are Russian troops, and finally they must fill in a form and have their passports re-checked by Transnistria customs officers.
From a nurse to almost a sister
Chisinau, Moldova. Fifteen years ago, Lena had to leave her job working as a nurse in the Moldovan hospital department. Almost immediately, she started to work as a volunteer within a home care project, a project created by Caritas Czech Republic from 2007 to 2010 which was financially supported by the Czech Development Agency.

The Healthy Ones
Caritas Czech Republic, together with Georgian partners, has been organizing project to support prevention and early detection of breast and cervical cancer in rural areas of Georgia. Project has run since 2010 with the support of the Czech Republic, particularly, by the Czech development agency.
Support of Home Care Service Development
One of the project's main goals is to improve the medical and psychosocial condition of people who are sick, elderly or handicapped. The project also aims to improve the professional capacities of those working in the field of home care, as well as informing the public about the home care model as a suitable form of medical and social service.

Home care is a good way to provide medical and social assistance to those in need, and demonstrates great care and devotion to the people.
Participation and Development of Local Self-Government Capacities
The purpose of the project "Promotion of Civic Participation and Development of Local Self-Government Capacities in Samtskhe/Javakheti“ is the enhancement of civic participation in public life in rural areas of Georgia. In the long-term, the project’s ambition is to have a positive impact on increasing the standard of living of inhabitants in the region.
