Drugged, kidnapped and enslaved in brothel
how one Nepalese woman fought back
by Laura Sheahen
“In the brothel, there were no windows. The only light was from the lightbulb—that was the sun and the moon for us.” Charimaya Tamang grew up in the hill country of Nepal, working on her family’s farm. She was used to the outdoors and sunshine and freedom. But after waking from a drugged sleep thousands of miles from her village, the sixteen-year-old was shut in a room behind three doors, each one locked after the other. Bekaa - one of the target areas of Syrian refugees
Report from Caritas Lebanon: 8.5 thousand Syrians fled to north Lebanon during the first half of April. It is very difficult to get help to the refugees because they are scattered in different towns and villages. Caritas Lebanon field workers in particular have problems with deliveries to more remote areas such as the village of Masharie el Qaa near the border of Syria. This is due to strict security measures and the recent incidents in this village.

Tom has shared with us his experiences of the day that he spent among children and their teachers.
With marmalades to reconciliation
An armed conflict in 2008 separated South Ossetia from the rest of Georgia. The conflict also divided the people living on both sides of the border, not just geographically. Caritas Czech Republic and local organization ABCO Georgia help to restore a sense of mutual confidence between the Georgian and Ossetian population in the border region by establishing a joint venture.
Cambodian girl, Channy, could see for the first time a few weeks ago
Neang Channy lives with her grandfather and grows up with help from aunts and uncles in a small village in Takeo province. After the examination, provided by Caritas Czech Republic, doctors have discovered a defect in her eyes that meant she could see only light and darkness or outlines in the fog. Thanks very thick glasses, she can see the details now, including the facial features of her loved ones. Channy can go to school, play with her friends and help her family with domestic activities.
